Objectives:
The megacity London was the beginning of the world-wide urbanisation process and the largest city up to the beginning of the 1. World War. After some decades of declining population, clear increase in the population is to be registered for some years. This is particularly because of strong rates of inmigration. Since many live in the outlying districts of London (they cannot afford to live in the city) and commute to the city center for work, London has to fight with a high traffic volumes. For some years now, programs are called to life, in order to get this problem under control.

Solution of Worksheet 'London -The SEOS Times-Editorial Meeting
The students should find the main statements of the respective topics, and summarize these in a formulated article. In the letter to the editor, the students take a position regarding their topic. This can be either praise and an agreement for the author and the topic, or in addition, a critical reaction to the article. Naturally also both perspectives can be written in two different letters to the editor.
In the last step, the article and the letter to the editor have to be arranged creatively on one newspaper page. For this, for example pictures related to the topic or boxes with additional information can be used. The students should be creative with this task and practically experience how a page can be arranged best.
Some the suggested topics for the articles are not treated on the London pages in the module. These can be found however on other pages in the second chapter.
