Almerias Green Houses

Strawberries, grapes, oranges, and tomatoes are no longer surprising to see in the shelves of our supermarkets in February. These fruit types have been grown outside of their natural seasons and come to us, for example, out of Almeria’s greenhouses. Because the season there too is not ideal for fruit growth, the farmers manage the plants with an artificial greenhouse effect.

In the experiment, it will be worked out, how such a greenhouse effect comes into existence.

Experiment

Required Materials:

1. Place a smoky stick of incense in the first glass, and shine a lamp on the glass.
2. Place a smoky stick of incense in the second glass, and place the saran wrap on top of the glass. Afterwards, shine a lamp on the glass as well.
3. After 5 minutes, measure the temperature in both glasses and notate the re-sults.
