- General skills: Practising analytical skills; collecting, managing and analysing information; discussion and presentation of
information to an audience.
- Contents:Identification of the problems caused to the environment and society by marine pollution. Methods and strategies to prevent and combat marine pollution including remote sensing techniques.

Time needed:
- 2-3 school lessons with additional homework
- In addition students can be asked to
- collect newspaper and magazine articles as well as information from the internet and/or the library
- answer a selection of questions at home
- prepare a presentation of their results
Procedure:
- ask the students to get together in groups of no more than 5
- ask the groups to pick a type of pollution they find interesting, ideally each group should choose a different topic
- ask the students to collect and analyse the information they need to answer the given questions
- in their groups the students should divide the workload among them and discuss their results
- in the last lesson, students may present their results
